Get connected and use Mouse, Tablet, or Handwriting with the Magic Pad Bridge companion on your Mac.
Connect in three steps
- 01 · Mac
Open Magic Pad Bridge
Keep the companion open. Enable it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility to allow pointer and text input.
- 02 · iPad
Select your Mac
Open the iPad app and select your Mac from the list. Keep both devices on the same trusted Wi-Fi network and allow Local Network access.
- 03 · Pair
Compare the codes
Check that the codes on your Mac and iPad match. Tap Codes match — Pair on the iPad. There is no second Pair button on the Mac.
Choose an input mode
Mouse — move, click and drag
Move your finger or Apple Pencil across the surface to move the Mac pointer. Tap to click. Hold briefly, then move to drag.
Tablet — map Pencil to the Mac display
Pencil position maps to your Mac’s main display. Touch to start a stroke and lift to end it. Finger touches are ignored in Tablet mode. This version uses standard pointer output; pressure-sensitive brushes and tilt are not supported.
Handwriting — review and send text
Write in the editor with iPad Scribble, or type. Click a text field in the Mac app you want to use, review the text on iPad, then tap Send to Mac. Scribble availability depends on your Pencil, language and iPad settings. If a send times out, check the Mac before sending again to avoid duplicates.
Troubleshooting
My Mac does not appear
Check that Bridge is open and both devices have Local Network permission. Guest Wi-Fi or a VPN can prevent local discovery. As a fallback, open Connection details on the Mac and enter its IP address under “Can’t find your Mac?” on iPad.
Connected, but the Mac pointer does not move
Check Accessibility permission for Magic Pad Bridge and reopen the companion if necessary. Make sure you are using Mouse or Tablet mode. Keep only one Bridge instance open.
The text did not appear
Focus an editable text field in the target Mac app before sending. Some apps do not accept synthetic Unicode input. A Bridge confirmation means it submitted the keyboard events, not that the destination app accepted them.
Does connecting a USB cable switch to wired input?
No. Direct USB transport is not implemented in the current version. Plugging in a cable does not guarantee that app traffic is using it. Multi-touch scroll/zoom and Pencil hover are also not included in this version.
Use a trusted network
The current development build exchanges input over an unencrypted local connection. Do not use it to enter passwords or sensitive information. Public release is still being prepared.
